Comparisons

Including the parts where we lose.

Every comparison below marks which column each criterion actually favours, and several of them favour the alternative. A comparison page where the author wins every row is an advertisement, not a comparison.

Evaluating any provider

Six questions worth asking, of anyone.

Including us. If a provider cannot answer these plainly, that is the answer.

Do they own their IP space?

A reseller can have your prefix pulled by its upstream regardless of its own stated policy. Ask for the AS number and look up whose name is on it — ours included.

Which datacenter, exactly?

A provider that will not name the facility is reselling, and the actual host's policy is what governs you.

Do they accept Monero?

Bitcoin is a public ledger. Monero support is a reasonable proxy for how seriously a provider takes privacy.

Is the abuse policy written down?

"We ignore everything" is not a policy, it is a countdown. Look for a document that distinguishes copyright from criminal reports.

Is there a transparency report?

Published request counts mean someone thought about the process before it was needed.

Can you test before paying?

Ping targets and test files should be public. Ours are on every location page.
