VPS hosting in Romania
Bucharest is our most popular offshore site. Romania is an EU member state, so you keep GDPR-grade data protection, and a US copyright notice carries no direct legal force — though EU law still gives a substantiated complaint teeth.

Legal posture
Romanian law contains no DMCA, no counter-notice clock and nothing that obliges us to act on a US notice as such. What it contains instead is the Digital Services Act, which reaches Bucharest because Bucharest is in the Union. Art. 16 obliges us to take a complaint and answer it; once one carries the detail Art. 16(2) sets out we are taken to know what it says, and Art. 6(1) stops sheltering us if we then do nothing. So we read what arrives, we tell you it arrived, and "a Romanian court order or nothing" is not a promise we could keep.

Romania VPS FAQ
How much does a VPS in Romania cost?
A Bucharest VPS starts at $3.05 per month for 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 25 GB NVMe and 2 TB of transfer. The Standard configuration — 3 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 90 GB NVMe — is $9.35 per month. Romania carries a price index of ×1.05 against our Amsterdam baseline, reflecting real differences in transit and facility cost.
A film distributor's enforcement contractor emails us about your Bucharest server. What happens?
You have probably read that an EU server ignores the DMCA. Half of that is right, and the wrong half is the half that decides things.
As a United States instrument that letter does nothing here: Romania gives us no takedown clock to run and no counter-notice to file. But we are established inside the Union, and the Union has an answer of its own. The Digital Services Act obliges every hosting provider here to accept a complaint and deal with it, and once one carries the detail Art. 16(2) sets out we are treated as knowing what it says — with Art. 6(1) withdrawing our liability exemption if we then sit on it.
So: we read it, we tell you what arrived and who sent it, and you get a real opportunity to answer before anything touches your server. What we cannot tell you is that only an order from a Romanian court will ever move us, because inside the Union that describes a shield we do not have. If you want a letter that lands with nothing at all behind it, that is Iceland, Moldova, Panama or Seychelles.
Do I need ID to buy a VPS in Romania?
No. NimbusVPS applies the same policy in every location: no identity document, no phone number, no proof of address and no payment card. An email address and a cryptocurrency payment are all that is required, and Romania imposes no additional customer-identification obligation on hosting providers.
What is the latency to Bucharest?
Typical round-trip times from Frankfurt 26 ms, Istanbul 22 ms, Amsterdam 31 ms, Moscow 42 ms. The site runs on a 40 Gbps uplink at M247 Bucharest, a Tier III facility. The address printed in the latency panel above is a documentation example, not something you can ping yet; the panel says so and explains when the live target goes up.
What data retention law applies in Romania?
Romania has tried to legislate blanket traffic-data retention and its Constitutional Court has struck the attempt down each time, most recently in 2014, so there is no standing mandate here for us to inherit. That is a fact about the companies that carry traffic, not a shield around your account. What keeps your account thin is that we write no access logs in the first place. Independently of local law, NimbusVPS operates 0-day access log retention — logs are not kept — and holds no identity data to retain in the first place.
